Basketball anyone?

Recently I joined a basketball club near where I work in Roosendaal. The club is ELBC. Etten-Luer Baskteball Club. This time of year always comes around and I get eager to play ball again. I also was looking for something extra to stay active, and be involved with since I have the time. I searched for a team near by and this is the one that I ended up joining. Basketball is definitely not a big sport here in the Netherlands. I had to buy some new bball shoes and they are not easy to find here! You can't just go into your regular sport shop and find more than one pair of bball shoes... it's like a whole wall of soccer cleets and have the store of soccer jerseys, then a wall with "other" (mostly style shoes) one pair of basketball shoes, of course very ugly and not cool at all. But luckily I went to a bigger store at Zuidplein (our local mall) and found a good deal on some And One shoes. Not my best pair, but they are good enough, and they are not super ugly. We just had our first game the weekend before last and let me tell you... I think I was in need of an extra lung or two. It has sure been quite some time since I played ball. It was fun though and we won by like 20+ points. Concetta took some pics for me.

Euro Disney anyone?

August 22, 2008. No work Friday, and a 3 day weekend ahead of us, the boys (Kilian and Richard) thought it would be a great idea to take Concetta and I to Euro Disney in Paris. The night before we we going, I was actually the only one who didn't know about it haha! We left early Friday morning... VERY EARLY (3:30-4ish) and headed down to France. Richard drove a majority of the time, then Kilian and I took shifts to finish off the journey. Poor little Concetta (lucky in this case) is currently working on getting her driver license, so she couldn't take the wheel.
When we left in the morning, it was raining. The whole drive was cloudy, misty, rainy.. you name it... anything BUT sunny. TomTom (the navigation) took us to the Disney hotel entrance where (at this point I was driving) I needed to roll down my window and get instructions to the parking lot from the frenchman manning the gate. I may as well have driven up under Niagra Falls and opened my window because that is how hard it was raining when we got there. So, I drove to the parking area, paid my way in, and the youngman who took my money said "au revoir"(but not the way you would hear an American or French teacher say it) as I was pulling away, and I stopped and looked at him because I thought he was trying to tell me something. So, he said it like 2 more times and I was still there looking at him all puzzled like, then in a very condescending way with a crazy French accent "Goodbye!".... pffff RUDE! HAHA I think I deserved it though.
So, we parked, said a quick prayer for the weather and headed out to have some fun Disney style. The weather was wet most of the day, but we had a lot of fun together. In the afternoon the clouds parted and we got some sun. Nonetheless, if I were to give a review of Euro Disney, I would say leave the Disney experience to California or Florida where you can get the full deal. The park was indeed Disney and they had the classics, but it missed a lot. We had fun in the company of each other, but over all weren't impressed by Euro Disney. Ok.. enough writing.. I am sure the family remembers our first visit to Disneyland when my favorite ride was "Small World" which mom had to go on about 100 times with me. Here we are enjoying the Small World epic adventure. It is indeed a small world after all!

I was so excited to go on the Buzz Lightyear ride! Everyone else thought it would be lame because it was really for younger kids, but in the end they all had a ton of fun because you get to shoot lazer guns at various targets in attempt to earn points and defeat the evil Emperor Zorg!

Yeah for Pirates of the Caribbean! I think in this picture I was telling Richard what pirates say...
AAARRRG!

Here we are doing the classic tour of the Swiss Family Robinson tree house. At one point one of us touched a branch on the tree and said, "This is fake." Good catch babe! They almost had me fooled.

Nice feet picture huh?! Then here we are in front of Cinderella's golden pumpkin carriage. I spanish family took the picture for us. Nope, I didn't use my spanish, it is long gone with the attempt to learn Dutch. We asked them in English (the best language ever!)

Just standing in line... always a great opportunity to take wierd pictures, I think Richard and I are the ones who got the idea of "wierd"in this one! Then it was on to the 3D Honey I Shrunk the Audience. I must say, it is a shame you don't see glasses like this sold in your local Walmart, sexy.

Pirates, pirates, pirates... I love pirates! I make a pretty good impression too (as you can see). We also took a ride on the "Unsinkalbe Molly Brown". Everyone wave to the camera! I think Richard looks like he is taking an oath.

Concetta and I, loving up the characters, inanimate and all. To the left you will see us with... uh... some cat character... I am actually not sure what Disney movie you will see him in... right... Mickey and the more well known characters either had a crowd around them or (more often the case) were not present. Concetta and I also didn't want to miss our chance to warm up by the flames of the frisky french candle, Lumiere.
